João Paulo Guedes is the Founder and CEO of Weezie. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Trás os Montes and Alto Douro. In 2003/04, he did post-graduation in Quality Engineering at FEUP / IEP. He points out that “5G is on the agenda and all studies point to an unavoidable fact: there will be no 5G without fiber. “Between the growing talk about 5G and the opportunities that its distribution will offer, it’s also crucial to note that 5G will be as powerful as the fiber networks that serve it.

“5G has become a buzz word and the idea of this study stems from a general observation: there will be no 5G without fibre”, says Ronan Kelly, President of the FTTH Council Europe.

Part of the success of 5G technology is the extensive fiber optic network, where all 5G’s projected performance goals will ultimately depend on the strength of fiber connectivity.
