The Portuguese startup develops fiber optic network management solutions, is active in six global markets, and has enabled customers to deliver fiber optics to more than 60 million homes worldwide.

Weezie, a software startup from Porto that offers fiber optic network management solutions, has secured an investment of 3 million euros in a round led by GED Ventures Portugal. The financing round will go towards research and development (R&D), the implementation of new solutions, as well as boosting internationalization.

Weezie’s CEO, João Sousa Guedes, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and growth. “We are thrilled to have the support of GED Ventures as a strategic investor and partner who shares our vision of redefining how telecom operators manage their operations and networks. By adopting our pioneering approach, which incorporates process digitalization and streamlining, we aspire to profoundly transform how operators optimize all their technical and human resources,” he said.

With six years of operation and a presence in six geographical markets, including the recent entry into the United States of America and Mexico in 2023, in addition to its presence in Europe and Africa, the Portuguese startup stands out in the area of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

The fiber optic network management solution was created in response to the need to digitize and automate conventional practices in fiber optic network management with software that allows telecommunications companies to reduce working time compared to the traditional format. The software integrates the planning, execution, control, and management team into a single digital ecosystem to offer the best experience to the end customer. It has already helped customers bring fiber optics to more than 60 million homes around the world.

“This investment will allow us to accelerate technological development, project the company into new markets, and consolidate the pace of growth of recent years,” says Joaquim Hierro Lopes, Partner and member of the Board of Directors of GED Ventures Portugal.

Currently recruiting in several areas, from technology specialists to commercial and support profiles, the Porto startup is committed to strengthening its internal operations and developing innovative solutions in line with the growing demands of the market.

In 2019, the software startup had already raised a significant investment of 525,000 euros, in a financing round led by Novabase Capital, in collaboration with Bynd Venture Capital. This injection of capital, at the time, represented a crucial milestone in the company’s journey.
